When life accidentally puts him on his trail, an italian scientist is drawn into a whirlwind of unforeseen events through five Portuguese-speaking countries - all united by the Atlantic Ocean - to discover what was once the Portuguese colonial empire and what became of his family. All the descriptions of the five countries where the story takes place (Portugal, Cape Verde, Brazil, São Tomé and Principe, Guinea Bissau) correspond to reality. The story reach its peak in the island of Principe, of the republic of sao Tomè amd Principe.
